Positioning

What's my position?

There are two ways to find your location to use A2B:

Automatic
If you have a GPS device, you can connect it to your computer or PDA and use GPSCookie or other compatible GPS software to search A2B and upload your latest position. More...

Manual
You can find a position from a variety of sources:
  • Online mapping services - Maporama, TravelGIS.com, Multimap, Mapblast and City Lookup will "geocode" a street address and give you a latitude and longitude when you type it in.
  • Maps - real paper maps and charts still exist and lots of people still use them! They usually have latitude and longitude scales.
  • Navigation software - well-known navigation packages such as Microsoft's Autoroute and Streets & Trips, Route 66 and others will tell you the latitude and longitude of any point on the map.
  • GPS device - if you have a GPS device but can't connect it to your computer, or your can't connect your computer to the internet, it will still tell you your position. In addition to the GPS you can usually plug it into your computer or PDA and run navigation programs like GPSS, Navio or TomTom.
